The Socorro Project:
Empowering Our Community Through Mental Health First Aid
We believe that everyone deserves support, understanding, and the tools to navigate life’s challenges. That’s why we are proud to offer free certification in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to our community members.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.
Just as CPR helps a person with a medical emergency, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. By learning how to provide initial support, you can make a significant difference in the lives of those around you.
Why Join Us?
Imagine being the person who can recognize when a friend, family member, or neighbor is struggling and knowing exactly how to help. With our MHFA training, you will:
- Recognize Signs and Symptoms: Learn to identify common indicators of mental health and substance use challenges.
- Respond Effectively: Gain the confidence to interact with individuals in crisis and provide them with the support they need.
- Connect to Resources: Understand how to guide someone toward professional help and self-care strategies.
- Be a Beacon of Hope: Join a community of over 2.6 million First Aiders who are committed to making a difference.
