The North Texas Behavioral Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) is committed to addressing the critical shortage of mental health professionals in underserved areas across North Texas. Funded through a grant by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
We aim to increase access to behavioral health professions education for individuals from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds by:
- Providing academic support and enrichment activities to help students succeed in their studies.
- Offering mentorship and counseling to guide students on their career paths.
- Facilitating clinical experiences in underserved communities to prepare students for real-world practice.
- Preparing students for health professions school admissions through targeted training and support.
